TaxSnapper

Terms of Use

Terms of Use

Effective date: 01/10/2026

These terms explain the agreement between you and TaxSnapper when you use our app and related account and report services. Please read them before creating an account or purchasing a report, and keep a copy.

Important: TaxSnapper provides bookkeeping tools, indicative tax estimates and report exports. It does not submit tax returns or Making Tax Digital updates to HMRC. Downloading a report does not complete a tax submission.

1. Who we are

TaxSnapper is operated by Saul Alexander Malpass trading as TaxSnapper (“we”, “us” or “our”).

Email: saul@taxsnapper.co.uk

Business correspondence address: 10 Hamilton Close, Warrington, WA4 1GP.

2. Your agreement with us

You accept these terms when you confirm your agreement during account creation. Before purchasing a report, you will be shown the relevant product information and price. Any additional purchase conditions will be identified before you pay.

TaxSnapper is intended for UK sole traders managing their own business records. If you use it on behalf of another person or business, you must have authority to do so and to provide their information.

The service is designed primarily for business use. Whether you have consumer rights depends on the law and your circumstances; these terms do not remove rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

3. What TaxSnapper provides

TaxSnapper enables you to enter income and expenses, store uploaded receipts, view indicative tax estimates and generate reports using the features available in your version of the app. It does not require a bank connection.

The app is designed for sole traders with straightforward tax affairs. It is not a complete tax-advice, accounting or tax-filing service. A feature being available does not mean that the app supports every tax treatment or circumstance relevant to you.

The description shown for a feature or report explains its scope. We will identify supported tax years and material calculation assumptions within the app or linked guidance. Do not use an estimate for a different tax year or outside the stated scope.

4. Tax estimates and guidance

Estimates are calculated from the information you enter and the rates and assumptions supported by the relevant app version. They are indicative and may differ from your final liability. They are not a personalised recommendation, confirmation from HMRC or a completed tax return.

Your final position may depend on matters that an estimate does not include, such as other income, residence and Scottish taxpayer status, losses, reliefs, pension contributions, student loan repayments, payments on account and changes in tax rules. You should check the supported assumptions rather than assume these matters are included.

An expense category or help message does not confirm that a particular cost is allowable. You must establish the correct treatment of business and private use, deductions, mileage and any CIS amounts entered. Where a receipt contains several items, its full amount may not be deductible.

Seek advice from a suitably qualified adviser where your circumstances are outside the supported scope or you are unsure how to treat a transaction. Please report suspected calculation errors to us promptly. These limitations do not excuse a failure by us to provide the functionality we have promised with the standards required by law.

5. HMRC submissions and Making Tax Digital

TaxSnapper does not send your records, quarterly updates or tax returns directly to HMRC and does not act as your accountant or tax agent. We do not register you for Self Assessment or Making Tax Digital, obtain HMRC authorisation on your behalf, or pay your tax.

You are responsible for determining your filing obligations and arranging submissions and payments yourself or through an authorised adviser using appropriate software.

Where Making Tax Digital applies, you must use a compliant process for digital records and submissions. An export from TaxSnapper does not, by itself, satisfy all Making Tax Digital requirements. Digital links and the capabilities of the receiving software matter.

Unless we expressly identify a tested integration, we do not promise that an export will import into every accounting or bridging product. Check the receiving product’s requirements before purchasing a report for that purpose. We remain responsible for providing an export that matches its advertised description.

Report availability, a download confirmation or a payment receipt is not evidence that HMRC has received a submission. Obtain submission confirmation through your filing software or adviser.

6. Your records and responsibilities

You must provide complete and accurate information, select the correct reporting period and review your records and reports before relying on them or passing them to someone else. Check for missing entries, duplicates, incorrect categories and amounts, and errors in uploaded or entered information.

You remain responsible for retaining records for the period required by law. Keep independent copies of records and reports you need, particularly before closing your account. TaxSnapper account storage is not a substitute for considering your statutory retention obligations.

Any reminders or deadline indicators are supporting tools. Check the deadlines that apply to you; a missing notification does not extend an HMRC deadline. This does not remove our responsibility for any reminder functionality expressly promised as part of the service.

7. Account security and acceptable use

Keep your login details secure, use accurate account information and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. You must have the right to upload the information you provide, including personal information about other people.

You must not use the service unlawfully, upload malicious files, access another user’s account without authority, interfere with security, or attempt to extract other users’ information. You must not copy or commercially redistribute our software or branding without permission. Restrictions on reverse engineering apply only to the extent permitted by law.

8. Reports and payments

The price, reporting period, format and contents of each paid report will be shown before purchase. Any applicable taxes will be included in the displayed total. Buying a report does not appoint us to prepare or submit a tax return.

TaxSnapper’s current pricing model uses individual report purchases rather than a monthly subscription. A one-off purchase does not authorise recurring charges. Any future subscription will require a separate, clearly explained agreement.

Payments may be handled by Apple, Google or another provider identified at checkout. Their applicable transaction terms also apply. They do not remove rights you have against us under applicable law.

The purchase description will explain whether you are buying a fixed report or access to generate or regenerate a report, and any repeat-download conditions. Unless expressly described otherwise, a purchase does not include future reporting periods or professional advice. A saved report reflects the records used when it was generated; later edits do not necessarily change that file.

If a purchase fails, you are charged incorrectly, or a report is unavailable or does not match its description, contact us with the purchase details. We will investigate and provide the correction, replacement, refund or other remedy required by applicable law. You may also use the relevant store’s purchase-support process.

9. Cancellation and refunds

Nothing in these terms removes a cancellation or refund right you have under applicable law.

Where consumer cancellation rights apply to immediately supplied digital content, we will obtain any express consent and acknowledgement legally required before supply begins and provide the required confirmation. Merely accepting these terms does not itself waive a statutory cancellation right.

Loss of a change-of-mind cancellation right does not remove rights relating to faulty, misdescribed or undelivered content. Contact saul@taxsnapper.co.uk with your name, account email, purchase date and details of the purchase or issue. A refund will not be refused solely because you have contacted us rather than an app store.

10. Privacy and ownership of your information

Our separate Privacy Policy explains how we process personal information, including providers, retention, deletion and your rights. It is a privacy notice, not blanket permission for unrelated marketing or data sharing.

You retain your rights in the records and files you provide. You give us the permission needed to host, process, display and reproduce that material to operate the service, generate requested reports and provide support, subject to the Privacy Policy and applicable law.

We own or license the app, branding and other service materials. We grant you permission to use the app for its intended purpose while your account is authorised. You may use and share your own exported reports for your business, accounting and tax purposes.

11. Availability and changes to the service

We will use reasonable care and skill to provide and maintain the service. We do not promise uninterrupted access or that every fault can be corrected immediately. Maintenance, network failures, security incidents and third-party outages may affect availability.

We may make reasonable changes to maintain security, correct faults, comply with law or improve the service. We will give reasonable advance notice of material changes affecting your use where practicable. Urgent security or legal changes may require shorter notice.

We will not use a service change to remove a paid entitlement without providing an appropriate alternative or remedy where required. If we permanently discontinue the service, we will give reasonable notice and an opportunity to export records where practicable, and address outstanding paid entitlements in accordance with applicable law.

12. Suspension and account closure

You may stop using TaxSnapper and request account deletion through the available deletion process. Download records you need first. Deletion and any legally necessary retention are explained in our Privacy Policy.

We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to address a serious breach of these terms, unlawful use, a security risk or a legal requirement. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and allow you to remedy the issue. Immediate action may be necessary to protect users or comply with law.

Where lawful and safe, we will provide a reasonable opportunity to retrieve your records. Suspension or closure does not remove an accrued refund entitlement or other statutory right.

13. Responsibility for loss

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability or statutory right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

You remain responsible for tax properly payable by you. Using TaxSnapper does not transfer that obligation to us.

Subject to applicable law, we are not responsible for loss to the extent it is caused by incomplete or incorrect information you provide, your failure to make a required submission or payment, or use outside the clearly stated scope of the service, rather than by our breach of contract or other legal duty.

These terms do not automatically exclude a claim for penalties, interest, correction costs or loss of records caused by our breach. Whether we are responsible depends on applicable law, the cause of the loss and the circumstances. You should take reasonable steps to avoid or reduce loss once you become aware of a problem, and we will take reasonable steps to address faults for which we are responsible.

No financial liability cap is included in these terms.

14. Complaints

Contact saul@taxsnapper.co.uk with a description of the problem and relevant account or purchase details. Please do not send passwords. We will investigate and respond within a reasonable time. Contacting us does not prevent you exercising legal rights or using applicable store or regulatory complaint routes.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms for changes to the service, legal requirements or reasonable operational needs. We will explain material changes and give reasonable advance notice where practicable. Where fresh agreement is required, we will ask for it.

Changes will not retrospectively remove rights arising from an existing purchase or dispute. If you do not agree to a material change, you may stop using the service and close your account, subject to your existing rights. The current version and effective date will be available through the app or website.

16. Governing law and general provisions

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. For business contracts, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not remove mandatory protections under the law applicable to you or your right to bring proceedings in the courts available to you under applicable law.

If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply so far as legally possible. A delay in enforcing a right does not waive that right. No person other than you and us has a right to enforce these terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.

We may transfer the service and associated contractual obligations to a successor, provided this does not materially reduce your contractual rights. We will notify you where required and handle any transfer of personal information lawfully.
